Weight Loss Diet Comparisons

One of the key things people want to know when deciding to lose weight is what the best diet is for them as an individual. Everyone is different and we all want to find the right diet, the one that can make us slim quickly, and the weight we lost gone forever. That’s the hardest thing, making sure the weight you lose stays lost for good.

Everywhere you look there are new diets coming out, which are all different in some way or another. I think that’s very confusing for people. What diet do you choose to get your body back in shape? The huge number of overweight people has turned the weight loss industry into a massively growing market year in and year out. It seems, in this day and age, all someone needs is a trendy idea and a talent for marketing to make a lot of money from some weird or wacky new diet plan. Despite the person having not much experience in the field of weight loss.

And there is a MASSIVE amount of diets out there. We’re going take a look at only some best-known diets, because a review of all the diets currently circulating the industry would be beyond the scope of this article.

Firstly, one of the most well known diets: The Atkins Diet. Almost everyone has heard of the Atkins Diet, Even people that don’t need to lose weight. This is because of the huge amount of reports of extraordinary results, also loads of positive mail from happy customers. A huge plus with this diet is that it lets you eat high fat dairy products like butter and cheese. But the Atkins Diet has been under suspicion of making you more at risk from heart diseases. Also many people have reported suffering from diarrhoea, weakness, muscle cramps and rashes. This debate is still argued about to this day.

The second diet is the Zone Diet: Again, a very well known diet. Zone diet was made by Barry Sears and focused on eating the right combinations of food to reach the proper hormonal balance. Hormonal Balance is called the "Zone". It’s meant to take the calories and use then in the day without storing any reserves (fat). Sadly, The Zone Diet does put down some foods without having any scientific facts. Foods like whole grain and beans are not allowed. The American Heart Association says the Zone diet lacks many much needed nutrients while also encouraging high-protein foods.

Third is the Jenny Craig diet. This diet has been running since the 1980s! And is still used today. The basis of this diet is to buy Jenny Craig pre-packaged food. And the cost per week is around $100. And you have to pay for memberships costs. And fruit and vegetables are not included in any Jenny Craig food. If you can stick it out the diet is quite good. But, there are many low-calorie foods on the market that easily compare with Jenny Craig’s packages, and could save you some money too.

From the beaches of Florida we give you the South Beach diet. This diet is on the right track but has the wrong approach. That’s not to say people haven’t lost weight because they have. It’s just a very hard diet to stick to. There’s a two week start off that allows almost NO carbohydrates. Then this diet goes onto you eating whole grains and fruit and carries on as long as it takes for you to reach your desired weight. Also if you don’t like the foods you’re meant to eat as written out by the diet plan, you’re out of luck. There’s no alternative.

Here we have another well known Diet plan. Weight Watchers. This really is one of the best diet plans available. This plan is very focused on the user. If you have real drive for losing weight, everything is available for you to reach your goal. There's also a lot of support from people doing exactly the same thing as you, trying to lose weight. If you like the thought of not being alone when times can get hard then this is a great option. But be warned, there is a lot of pressure on you when you go with weight watchers which could put you off.

Fat Smash Diet
The Fat Smash Diet from Dr. Smith is not about a quick fix to lose loads of weight but focuses on a whole change of lifestyle. This prgram gained a lot of interest because of the TV program Celebrity Fit Club which gave you a look at this diet in use.

Focusing on healthy, filling foods, and lots of exercise, The diet is based on eating low calorie foods which is easy to follow. This is not one of those diets that claim to make you slim in a week, and can be follwed if you only want to lose a little weight or a lot.

This is a 4 phase plan; first three phases extending to about 8 weeks and the fourth phase being a lifetime phase. This plan lays as much stress on regular exercises as on proper diet control. This is a good diet plan that goes back to the roots of weight loss.

Dash Diet
This diet was mostly for patients with with high blood pressure. The dash diet is rich in magnesium, potassium, and calcium, as well as protein and fiber. Thuis diet uses many of the aspects found in most of the tried and tested weight loss programs out there and is backed by the NHLBI and other organisations.

Raw Food Diet

Raw food diet is focused upon eating uncooked foods such as, vegetables, fruits, nuts etc. To get the most from the raw food diet you much have a minimum of 75% of the raw and living components.

Raw food is low in certain fats in comparison to the conventional diet. Raw food diet has higher fiber content and a much better sodium content. less fat which means less calories.

Raw food has many benefits. It improves digestion and improves skin appearance. It gives increased energy and it reduces risk of heart diseases, diabetes and cancer. It can lead to healthy weight loss.

Raw food diet is very healthy but is not for everyone. Raw food diet is not suitable for pregnant or nursing women or children. It is not suitable for anemic persons and persons suffering from osteoporosis. so take caution if your fall into any of the above categories.

This is just a few of the well known diets available, there are many more then written about here. If you’re thinking about starting a diet plan, first do some research and see of its right for you. From the people praising and those trying to prove the diet wrong you can probably get the truth yourself. Always listen to what doctors are saying because they will have your best interests at heart.

Weight Loss Tips

We all want easy ways to lose weight. So, today we will talk about how to do just that. It might not be as hard as you think. We all have friends who pile on the cheese burgers with extra large fries each day. After they eat all that, they go onto eating a whole bag of sweets and wash it down with a big bottle of fizzy pop. Does that Sound like somebody you know? At some point in the day, we get thirsty. All humans do. What do you turn for most often? Fizzy pop, we all do it. Why? Because its easy and it tastes really nice. Who can turn down a fizzy drink after a day out in the sun?

Well, you shouldn't be doing that. You don't get anything back from fizzy pop. You might get a slight boost from the caffeine, but that is about it. You might get a slight sugar rush, but it won't be anything that will last. Also because we are slightly hungry. We aren't hungry enough to go get something to eat, but a drink will satisfy us enough until our next meal.

Instead of drinking fizzy pop all day long, drink juice. Or even better, try to drink juice with pulp in it. I know what you are thinking. Regular trips to the toilet, as long as you eat properly you wont have any problems. Juice with the pulp in it will fill you up. Unlike fizzy pops, there is something actually there to curb your hunger. You will drink less because you will get full. Give it a go, you might be surprised.

Always stick to brown, wheat, and wholemeal bread. Don't eat white. Whole wheat products are known to stabilize your blood sugar levels. This means you won't get hungry as quick. This is an easy way to beat hunger.

Program yourself to eat more fruit and vegetables and to wait longer between meals, so the body's digestive system gets a good rest each day. Try to only drink water or eat fruit within this "rest" time.

Stay away from chocolate and sweets between meals.

We all do it, Dinners taking forever and your hungry, so you reach for something sweet to satisfy that hunger until dinners ready. If you eat too much while you wait for dinner, you don't eat your dinner! So then you have messed up a meal. Half sweets and half the meal is the result of your dinner. If you wait and just fight it out with hunger, you will enjoy your dinner much more and will feel better for it. And you have had a whole meal, which will curb your hunger for longer and you will lose weight quicker.

Here are some tips you can use when making sandwiches.

Avoid cheese. Cheese may taste nice but it is full of fat. Never eat cheese before going to bed as it lies on your stomach. If you do this regular it is a heart attack waiting to happen. Some people eat tons of cheese. There is no reason to eat loads of cheese. One of the ways you can cut down on the amount of cheese you eat is by shredding the cheese. Use the shredded cheese instead of cutting slices with a knife. You can cover the same amount of area, with a thinner layer of cheese. You can also do this with salads or anything you have cheese with.

Cut down on mayonnaise. I would suggest that you eliminate it completely from your diet. I know some people who have so much mayonnaise with their food; I can't see how they can taste anything but mayonnaise. A good substitute is some Italian dressing. Just enough so you can taste it. This will really cut down your fat intake. Also, if you can make your own, you can control how much oil is in the dressing.

Cut down on bread. Many of us eat too much bread. If we go out to eat, the waiter will always put a bread basket on the table. I know it’s hard but Try not to eat it. The more carbohydrates you can get away from the better. This qualifies as a snack before your meal. You’re better off just waiting for your meal to arrive. If you want to out the fat you need to cut out the little snacks. Don’t pig out on chocolate and crisps between meals. Instead go for some fruit or vegetables. You may think that sounds boring but once you give it a chance I think you will be amazed at how nice they can taste, especially when you’re hungry.

Steer clear of fatty cuts of meat. A lot of people buy fatty cuts of meat because their cheaper. We all know you get what you pay for. If you want to save money buy it, but cut all the fat off when you get home. There are loads of ways you can cook lean meat. Most people like the fat because it adds taste. But with spices, you can fix the problem of not having the flavour that fat adds.

Stay away from too much dairy. Go for skimmed milk rather then full fat. Low fat versions are the way to go. If you want to eat ice cream, try to get flavours with a lot of fruit in them or add your own fruit. Avoid frying food as much as you can. Learn how to bake, broil and steam your foods. Frying adds a huge amount of fat to the dish. It may taste good, but it won't do your waist any favours. If you do fry food, make sure to dry the food off with kitchen paper. So, there are a few suggestions. These things aren’t hard to do. Once you try them a few times they will get easier, and in time it will just become normal for you.

Do You Eat Too Much Fat?

Fat

Most of us are very fat conscious. It is talked about constantly these days. From when we are kids we are told that fat is not good for us. A lot of people are more concerned with calorie intake than fat. To be honest you should be aware of both. You need to make sure that your diet isn't full of fatty junk food. It’s much better to get your needed calories from foods that are good for you. But let’s not forget, some fat in our diet is needed.

I believe that a lot of food and drink company’s are making people fat. I have seen some recent studies on smoothie drinks and most of them contain more fat and sugar then a Big Mac! which is very misleading for people thinking there taking in some healthy goodness but really there are consuming more fat then something that is known for being "junk" and its high calorie content. Maybe they are the real evil in the diet empire. I do think this has something to with why so many people are overweight in this world.

Take a moment to think about this. How many countries in the world eat bread? Most of them eat some sort of bread. Bread for some people is a main part of the meal. A lot of meals feel bare without it. In the old days, women spent hour after hour making bread. This can also be said about pasta in some regions of the world like Italy. Almost all cultures eat some sort of carbohydrates with every meal. What about china and rice? India and naan bread, The Irish and potatoes? The same thing, these are all carbohydrates. Where would we be without them?

Almost all people eat these every day of their lives. I think we are accustomed to eating carbohydrates. People consume so much bread and other carbohydrates that I don't know what we would do without them. Too many carbohydrates can contribute to you putting on weight, but don’t worry fat is in top place. If you eat too much of it, your body stores it and you become fat. You are also getting yourself on track for either a heart attack or heart disease. I mean, your body can and will only handle so much. We have all seen young men get heart attacks and other problems from too much fat at an early age. So, we know that fat in high amounts is bad.

There are many different types of fats. Some fat is worse for your body than others. Some things that are naturally low in fats include fruits, vegetables and whole grain foods. A lot of food that comes from animals is high in saturated fat, like streaky bacon. Saturated fat raises your LDL "bad" cholesterol level more than anything else you eat. These include anything deep fried, which should be eaten in moderation. They will include, donuts, French fries, potato chips.

The second foods mentioned is what you need to stay away from. These are high in calories. Commonly known to clog your arteries. I hate to remind you, but the good stuff in life has its risks. I'm not saying don’t ever eat these items, but eat them in moderation. That is the key. Try not to eat them every day, once per week is alright. Don't go wild and eat a whole cake that was meant to be cut into 8 individual servings. Instead, if you know you’re only buying for one (you) get a smaller cake specifically for one person. This way, you won't be tempted. Treat it as a reward for having a healthy eating week!

Oils such as Olive oil and Carotino oil are low in saturated fats. You should try and use these whenever you can. Keep in mind though, you should only use a little of any oil. And dry food off with kitchen paper. Also by using non stick cookware you won't have to use as much oil when cooking. Watching your caloric intake as well as your fat intake should be of equal importance. I would also pay attention to how many carbohydrates you are eating each day. I know i have talked about them earlier, but a big majority of people are too dependant on them. They are a good source of energy, but you will feel bloated and quite lazy if you eat too much of them. There are pointers to look out for to see if your eating too many, such as feeling like you need a nap all the time. Lower fat, smaller meals more regular through the day is best.

As mentioned above, there is health risks involved with a diet high in fat.

You are at higher risk of having heart disease. Plus a whole host of cancers. People who eat high fat diets also have skin problems. And it is also known to affect your mood, if you eat healthy you generally feel better. People who eat too much fat have very bad complexion.

Please don't finish reading this and think that you should cut out all of the fat in your diet. That isn't my intent. Instead, you should look at your diet in the big picture. You can eat some fat; just don't go eating big bacon sandwiches, chips and burgers everyday. You, as the owner of your body know it better then anyone else. So you will know when you analyse your eating and living habits if you’re eating too much fat or not getting enough exercise.

Where Diets Go Wrong

Everyones automatic reaction is to eat less when they find out they have put on some weight. Which makes sense, eat less, lose weight. Almost everything we see on the internet regarding this subject says the same thing: Eat less food. So the answer is simple, less food is a challenge and has a limited feel to it.

You may find this shocking. But cutting down on food alone wont help you lose weight. Over thousands of years humans have been through some hard times in terms of finding food to survive. Our decendants managed to get through periods of starvation. So lowering your food intake alone will not make a huge difference. The body will simply compensate for it by lowering the amount of energy produced and limiting the capacity for effort.

If you want to lose weight, the best way is to eat wise rather then less. No matter if your overweight or slim, people eat roughly the same calories daily because we all need the same required amount of food. Overweight people will generally eat more fat then slimmer people. It mostly comes down to eating patterns and types of food.

Any good diet will take time to work. Becoming fat doesn't happen in a day, so the reverse wont either. So many people search high and low for weight loss tricks or cheats, trying to find that pill that can make the fat disappear. You must of seen some of the marketing or adverts promising extreme weight loss in a short amount of time. And you probably know that losing weight doesn’t work like that.

The best way to lose weight and KEEP it off is to try and avoid very fatty foods and to exercise regularly. Dont think that you can diet and not exercise and still lose weight. If you diet without exercising sooner or later you will put the weight back on within a few months. The lifestyle many people lead in todays world is why there are so many overweight people. Cars, Jobs that involve sitting down all day. The ease of going to a fast food joint or ordering a take away. Modern life comes at a price. Just like most things in life.
